Known as the 'Father of the String Quartet', Austrian-born Franz Joseph Haydn (1732–1809) played a pivotal role in the development of chamber music and was a mentor and teacher to both Mozart and Beethoven. Professor of Music History and Culture at the University of Toronto Dr. Caryl Clark presents an engaging talk on the life, music and cultural influences of Haydn. This fascinating lecture incorporates musical demonstrations from the HPO String Quartet. Admission is FREE.
