Description

Building scientists are often stereotyped as enclosure experts – and they are. But the best building science goes beyond the enclosure to take a whole-building perspective on energy efficiency, buildability, and durability. That means thinking about HVAC: buildings should be designed as a system, with interactions between the enclosure and the mechanical system accounted for. This is straightforward when you look at a single snapshot in time with no variability, weather, or humans involved. In the real world, it can get complicated. Join us for a closer look at the building science of HVAC systems and what happens when that science is not well understood or applied. We’ll discuss both commercial and residential buildings, with a focus on cold and mixed climate zones. Presenter:
Aaron Grin
