The Girls in STEM Olympics (#GiSO2018) is an annual competition/conference with the goal of giving girls the opportunity to learn, grow, and compete through STEM challenges. It is a day-long event with team challenges for a more fun experience and solo challenges for girls who want to put their skills to the test!

The event is open to girls in grades 8-12. Universities and companies will be showcased during the Innovation Fair for attendees to interact with!

This year we have the following solo "Skills" Challenges*:
-CAD (Autodesk Inventor, Solidworks, etc.)
-Programming (Python, Java, C, C++, etc.)
-Public Speaking
-Engineering Design
-Media Production (Video, Graphic, Animation, etc.)

*Skills challenges may not run depending on number of sign-ups. If this is the case, registrants will be contacted in advance to arrange other competitions.

FAQs

What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event?

Scotiabank Digital Factory is located in the heart of Downtown Toronto, accessible through TTC and with a few paid parking lots nearby. Please double check that the destination is "333 King St. E, Toronto" if "Scotiabank Digital Factory" does not come up!

What should I expect from the event as a participant?

The goal of the event is to empower girls and to help them open up their options for their futures. Participants in the "Team Challenges" will be in small groups and complete four team challenges that are all STEM related. Participants in the "Skills Challenges" will be individually competing against other girls from around southern Ontario in CAD, Programming, Public Speaking, Engineering Design, and Media Production! At lunch, we will have time for girls to network with eachother and right after lunch we will be having our "Innovation Fair" which will display some of our even sponsors or supporters and participants can interact with these companies and schools!
