Discounted Histories: Retail History and Trade Networks in Toronto is a month-long exhibition that takes a deeper look at uncovering that question by exploring the movement of goods, services and ideas that have formed Toronto"s retail landscape, long before Confederation. Rooted in the physical geography of waterways that connected hundreds of nations through trade routes, and spanning a time of rapidly evolving technology, from specialized artisans to mass production, and mail-order catalogues to online shopping; Discounted Histories reassesses part of Toronto"s existing historical narrative, by bringing to light overlooked, unseen, and forgotten histories.

Please join us for the Discounted Histories opening reception located at the Toronto Media Arts Centre (TMAC), for an evening of refreshments. Don't miss out on the chance to explore this exhibit of selected objects and artifacts that juxtapose a diverse range of perspectives to create a new historical narrative, alongside Dressing Toronto, a stunning display by the Fashion History Museum. The Discounted Histories and Dressing Toronto exhibits will be featured at the Discounted Histories hub throughout the month of November. Also featured at the hub will be a variety of programs including panel discussions, talks, guided exhibit tours, a workshop, and Myseum shuttles to exhibits off-site.
