The Toronto Youth Equity Strategy (TYES) invites frontline workers who are working with MVP youth (youth most vulnerable to involvement in serious violence and crime) to attend our 2018 Frontline Workers" Workshop Series (updated flyer attached).

Registration is now open for the fifth workshop: Outreach with MVP Youth, in partnership with CEE Centre for Young Black Professionals, taking place at Toronto City Hall (100 Queen St. W.) in Committee Room 1 (2nd Floor) on October 24th, from 2:30 to 4:30 pm.

OUTREACH has CHANGED! Are you changing with it? This workshop will focus on understanding outreach and recruitment through experiential learning. The workshop will provide tools, resources and the do's and don"ts of community outreach with a specific focus on connecting with MVP youth. By attending this workshop frontline workers will gain strategies in community outreach with MVP youth, including:

- In person outreach (word of mouth, door-to-door, tabling, etc.)

- On-line outreach (social media, email)

- Promotional materials (flyers, posters, videos, etc.)

- Media engagement (media releases, blogs, etc.)

The workshop will be facilitated by Horace Spence and Xavier McLaughlin:

Horace Spence is a Registered Social Service Worker with over 7 years" experience in Outreach. Horace Spence is currently a Program Facilitator at CEE Centre. Horace loves to engage the community with a meaningful approach. He is known for his ability to relate to the community and its members. Horace comes with a wealth of life experience that allows him to see different points of view. which is very helpful in developing and facilitating programs for clients and stakeholders. By working at CEE, Horace gets the chance to become the agent of change which allows him to stay connected to the community and the demographic CEE serves.

Xavier Mclaughlin is an entrepreneur and Program Manager with CEE Centre for Young Black Professionals. With over 10 years of experience working in Toronto's neighbourhood improvement areas, Xavier has created sustainable opportunities for youth facing multiple barriers. Through his founding work with Triple Balance Community Services, Canada Elite Basketball Association and Canadian Youth Basketball League, Xavier has created a long-lasting impact on the lives of many Toronto's families. With a formal education in Business Administration (Management), Xavier seeks to bridge the gap between business and society, people and profit.
