Activities: Admission, Lake River Reservoir, Education Interpretive, Heritage Museum, Handicapped Access, Facilities Rental, Picnic Facilities, Hiking

A visit to the John R. Park Homestead and Conservation Area will take you back in time to the 1850s. With a magnificent setting on the shore of Lake Erie, the house and farm buildings of John and Amelia Park are restored to bring the nineteenth century to life. Chat with costumed interpreters working at the kitchen fireplace, in the blacksmith shop and heritage garden. See the workings of an 1885 steam engine-powered sawmill or explore the heirloom apple orchard. Don't miss the smoke house, ice house and barns. Pick up a locally hand-crafted souvenir in the museum shop.

Thousands of school children come here each year for hands-on learning opportunities about pioneer life and the importance of preserving our heritage. The Parade of Horse Breeds, the Blueberry Social and Maple Time are just a few of the many annual special events, so be sure to check out the events calendar to learn more. Bring a picnic and enjoy the 19 acre conservation area with nature trail through the Fox Creek Provincially Significant wetland, beach and lakeshore boardwalk. The modern visitor centre can be rented for showers, weddings or meetings. Check our website for a listing of many special events.
