This 467 hectare (1,154 acre) Conservation Area is located 11 km south of Kaladar or 37 km north of Napanee, off Highway 41. Sheffield Conservation Area provides a four km looped trail that offers some challenging terrain for the avid hiker. Spectacular granite outcroppings, deciduous forests and extensive wetlands typify this area of the Canadian Shield. Songbirds, waterfowl, reptiles, amphibians, and small mammals like beaver and muskrat are common here. Ontario’s only lizard, the five-lined skink, is also a resident. For wildflower enthusiasts there is plenty of colour from the brilliant orange of the wood lily to the delicate pale corydalis along the trails. During wet times, some parts of the trail may be under water. The boat launch may not be suitable for large motor boats.
