Chris Whiteley and Diana Braithwaite, two of Canada's finest blues performers, have created a vibrant celebration of the history of the legendary Underground Railway, which brought American slaves to freedom in what was then called Upper Canada in the early to middle years of the nineteenth century. Through songs and stories Chris and Diana tell of the famous personalities that featured in this saga, including Harriet Tubman and Josiah Henson, the inspiration for Harriet Beecher Stowe's celebrated novel Uncle Tom's Cabin . But it also relates stories of unsung heroes, and the common man, woman and children, who were dealing with extraordinary times.
