Eng, Advisor, Engineering Manager & Principal at GS Group 'Is Engineering a Commodity'? Marilyn Spink began her 30-year engineering career in Northern Ontario's mining, pulp and paper industries and then moved to steelmaking operations working in both the US and Canada. After executing capital projects with Dofasco, she moved to consulting engineering to execute large capital, complex minerals/metallurgical projects globally. At Hatch, SNC-Lavalin, Tetra Tech and Golder Associates, as a multi-discipline engineering manager and a process engineer at heart, she led and supported teams of professional engineers and designers to complete projects such as the Ambatovy Nickel Laterite Mega Project in Madagascar (7+US$ Billion), steel plant new build and modernization projects all over North America and in Tunisia, mining backfill plant construction and commissioning projects in India and the Northwest Territories, and even designed, manufactured & assembled complex Military Camp equipment for our NATO troops. She has been a licensed professional engineer (PEO) since 1995, a member of the Ontario Society of Professional Engineers (OSPE) since its inception. Giving back to the engineering profession is also important to Spink via her 2013 lieutenant governor-appointed councillor to PEO and by contributing to several committees and task forces. She is currently Vice President Appointed of PEO. Spink is married to Jamie Gerson, also a professional engineer, who is extremely supportive of all her interests and a wonderful father to their three children.
