Description	The history of subject peoples during the Roman period is often overshadowed by the emphasis placed on the contributions that Roman civilization brought to its provincial subjects. This seminar discusses the approaches that can be taken to elucidate the stories of other societies that often played a large role in the history of the Mediterranean. In particular, the crucial role played by Numidians in Africa, Spain, Italy and Sicily during the Second Punic War will be discussed, along with the inherent challenges involved in piecing together the history of Numidia from the historical and material record of the Roman Empire....
