Dufferin residents can participate in a curbside collection of used single-use  alkaline batteries on their regular waste collection day during two weeks of the year: March 12-16 and November 5-9, 2018. Special battery bags are mailed out a week or two in advance of the collection.

Round up your used or unwanted single-use batteries, including AAA, AA, C, D, 9 Volt and button cells. Remember to cover 9V & button battery terminals with masking tape. Place your batteries in the orange bag and seal it using the zip tab.

On your regular waste collection day that falls during the special collection week, set the bag on top of your Blue Box contents. The batteries will be properly recycled. No loose batteries in the Blue Box. Batteries will be collected during the two weeks of the year mentioned above only.
