Description | Like other professions, coaching is facing questions about who coaches, who has access to coaching and how we can do a better job of expanding our understanding and approaches to include and meet the needs of a broader group of people. Most recently, the Association of Coach Training Organizations (ACTO) took a stand in addressing power, privilege and oppression (PPO) in the coach education field. In an era of #MeToo, Black Lives Matter and Truth and Reconciliation, as coaches we need safe and brave spaces to explore who we are as coaches, unpack our own power and privilege, reflect on our biases, and their impact on our clients, and take steps to strengthen our competency in this area. Building on the latest work in diversity, bias and power, and using storytelling, mindfulness and embodied practice, we will create an experiential, reflective and playful space to explore PPO in coaching. Come get curious with us! In this introductory workshop for professional coaches, we will explore ways to consciously and heart-fully take steps toward developing a practice that establishes increased trust and safety in our respective coaching practices.
