Once a narrow waterway, Lake Niapenco was created in 1971 with the damming of the Welland River, and Binbrook Conservation Area preserved the land around it. Augmenting water flow in the Welland River, the reservoir also sports fish and many waterfowl not seen in urban areas including Osprey, Bald Eagles and ducks. A day at Binbrook is like a day at the cottage, but close to home. For the family, the swimming beach, spray pad, play area and picnic facilities make for a full day of fun. Explore nature on the trails and from observation platforms and see if you can spot some of the local wildlife. Bring or rent a rowboat, paddle boat, canoe or kayak and experience Binbrook from the water. A paddle along the tranquil shores of one of the few inland lakes in the Niagara Peninsula Conservation Authority’s watershed is a rare pleasure. Binbrook Conservation Area is known throughout the area as the hot spot for fishing.
