Description

IKEA is joining us to share how they are continuing to integrate sustainability into their operations, products, and their people. This holistic approach to sustainability has a positive impact on environmental, social, and working conditions globally. Attendees will also learn how IKEA is leading the way with a transition to the circular economy, and will get advice about how to make change in their own organizations. About the speaker Melissa Mirowski Sustainability Specialist IKEA Canada Over the past 8 years Melissa has had the pleasure of leading change towards sustainability in some unique settings; from renewable energy cooperatives to major attractions, and the post-secondary sector. Now in Retail, her role as IKEA Canada's Sustainability Specialist Melissa helps to define direction to create a more Circular IKEA, adding value to customers throughout products' life cycles and maximizing the value and usefulness of material. She also supports stores and units to have a strong commercial offer of sustainable living solutions, improve operational efficiency, and support community involvement activities. As a sustainability professional who thrives on collaboration and is passionate about beautiful and functional design, Melissa naturally gravitated towards IKEA. She believes in the company's vision and is inspired by IKEA's values, down-to-earth culture, and commitment to prioritizing people and planet while always striving for better. At home, Melissa enjoys spending time with her husband Dustin and 2.5 year old daughter Eleanor. In their spare time they enjoy swimming, biking, camping, trying new restaurants, live music, and probably too much Netflix.
