Description

CAMBRIDGE THIRD AGE LEARNING with Dr. Alastair Summerlee, Interim President at Carleton University A passionate humanitarian, dedicated teacher, and internationally renowned researcher, Dr. Alastair Summerlee served as president of the University of Guelph from 2003 to 2014, retired briefly, then became the Interim President of Carleton University. He is also the director of research for the Lucky Iron Fish Project, a project which started in Cambodia to encourage women to add fish-shaped cast-iron ingots to boiling water in their cooking pots to act as iron supplementation. The results have been stunning! Come and hear Dr. Summerlee tell the story of the Lucky Iron Fish Project and its global impact! About Cambridge Third Age Learning (CTAL) Cambridge Third Age Learning (CTAL) is a movement that encourages learning and discovery experiences for those in the 'third age'-the stage in one's life beyond full-time employment. By cultivating opportunities for discussion and engaging the expertise of local university professors and community professionals, CTAL supports those who have an intellectual curiosity and an interest in life-long learning. At Idea Exchange, our hope is to foster a self-organized group which would create CTAL programs throughout the year with our support as a venue and promotional vehicle.
